4 Tips to Keep Up with your Physical Therapy Progress During the Busy Holiday Season:

We all know that January is for resolutions, but there’s no need to lose the ground you’ve gained while working with your physical therapist over a busy Holiday Season!  Below are a few tips that have helped my clients over the last few years.

  1. The first is pretty obvious, but schedule your physical therapy appointments in advance. At Bespoke, we recommend booking about a month in advance if possible.  Schedules get busy at the end of the year for everyone, and popular times are on a first come, first served basis.  An appointment schedule that fits perfectly into your day (before work, during a lunch break, just before going out to dinner, etc) is going to be one that’s easier to maintain.

  2. Ask your physical therapist how often you must do your home exercises in order to support progress.  I’ll often recommend that clients do their exercises once or twice a day generally. However if things are super busy (traveling, work commitments, Thanksgiving week, etc) 2-3 times a week is much much better than taking a complete break.

  3. Focused work brings about the most benefit. Find out which of your home exercises are the most valuable.  It’s easy for me to hand out many exercises that I feel will benefit my client, but typically there are one or two that are the most foundational.  I’m happy to narrow down specific exercises to maximize the time my clients have to dedicate to recovery.

  4. Finally, if you just can’t make time to get into the clinic or exercise at home, don’t think for a second that your physical therapist (at least at Bespoke PT!) is mad or disappointed.  We are cheering for you and want your recovery to be as smooth and quick as possible. We are here to help at any step of your journey!
