Bespoke Physical Therapy

Feel better faster with tailored, one-on-one treatments, provided by the same specialized Doctor of Physical Therapy every visit.

Whether you have recently been injured, are enduring a bout of vertigo, or have been in pain for years, our Doctor of Physical Therapy can very likely help.

There are multiple things that set us apart from most physical therapy clinics and treatment approaches.  To name just a few, we provide personalized one-on-one sessions with your doctor of physical therapy, highly effective hands-on manual therapy techniques, and treat the entire person for a more complete and lasting return to the activities they love.

During a Bespoke appointment, patients will not spend one half of their appointment time warming up on the bike or cooling down with ice, and the other half performing their home exercises with sporadic supervision. Our care will never be influenced by insurance companies cutting corners, and you will not be told to “Rest and take pain killers” or to “Just learn to live with it.” Even if you have tried other forms of treatment, Bespoke Physical Therapy can offer you a different approach as we aim to provide physical therapy at it’s very best. Our complete focus is getting you back to the activities and lifestyle you love, and making the process as painless (or maybe even enjoyable!) as possible.

What makes us different?

Common questions:

Cash Based vs. Insurance Based Physical Therapy Clinics

All clinics and providers are different, but these are some common differences between the two.

  • Bespoke Physical Therapy absolutely accepts credit cards (see appointments for more details here). “Cash based” is a term that means we are out of network with insurance companies in order to work with patient outcomes as our top priority. Check out this article for a quick overview.

  • Absolutely! This is an option that Bespoke Physical Therapy clients use often. As long as your HSA/ FSA card is Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, or UnionPay, Bespoke can accept it.

  • Cash Based: Your initial evaluation will be performed by a Doctor of Physical Therapy who will educate you on their findings, establish your plan of care, and get you started with a few exercises. You will be attentively cared for by this same provider at every visit.

Insurance Based: Your evaluation will be performed by a physical therapist who has either a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Subsequent visits will often be predominantly scheduled with physical therapist assistants and/ or carried out by unlicensed technicians.

  • Cash Based: The same physical therapist who performed your evaluation, will treat you at subsequent follow up visits. Since they performed the evaluation, they will easily recall your history and goals. This will also enable them to thoughtfully progress your exercises and interventions between visits.

Insurance Based: You will often vacillate between multiple providers which decreases consistency of care. Due to the number of patients treated at the same time, insurance based clinics often utilize unlicensed technicians to supervise exercises and interventions. It is more difficult for a new provider to gauge if you have improved or declined since the last visit, so treatment is not usually adjusted between visits. Often people feel they could perform the same activities at home.

  • Cash Based: Every patient is treated one-on-one by their supervising physical therapist. All exercises are closely monitored, and this ratio allows a heavy focus on manual or hands on therapy when indicated and appropriate. It also allowes sessions to be more dynamic and appropriately challenging.

Insurance Based: Typically, therapists or assistants are expected to see between 2 and 8 patients per hour. Oversight is provided by a therapist or an assistant who is managing multiple people at once, or by an unlicensed technician. With this number of patients often exercises are performed by the patients essentially independently, and they guide themselves through their usual routine.

  • Cash Based: You will be treated by a specialist for your condition. Cash Based clinicians treat based on their area of expertise, and will readily refer to other providers when someone else is better suited to help. Bespoke Physical Therapy specializes in vertigo and BPPV, as well as orthopedics.

Insurance Based: Insurance Based clinicians typically must evaluate and treat everyone placed on their schedules, even when outside of their scope of expertise. Referring to other practices is highly discouraged.

  • Cash Based: Upfront pricing readily available. Based on individualized physical therapy strategies, often fewer visits are needed which may result in lower overall cost. Fewer visits also require less time off work and provide quicker returns to career and recreational activities.

Bespoke also does not require a physician referral which often saves times as well as money.

Bespoke Physical Therapy can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance. They will provide reimbursement directly to you based on your policy/ coverage.

Insurance Based: Unable to provide upfront pricing due to variability of billing codes, time, insurance policies, deductibles, and copays. Typically patients are scheduled 2-3 times a week for 4 to 10 weeks sometimes resulting in higher overall cost. If a deductible has not been met, visits can cost patients approximately $120 to $250, and copays vary from $0 to $150 per visit.

  • Cash Based: No. In the state of Florida, physical therapists have direct access, meaning that no prior referral or prescription for physical therapy is needed. Due to this, patients are able to direct their own care, and schedule with their Physical Therapist directly rather than first waiting for an appointment with their physician. Without this delay, Bespoke Physical Therapy if often able to significantly improve or resolve a patient’s symptoms before they would be able to even see their physician.

Bespoke Physical Therapy provides prompt and complete communication with our patients’ primary care physicians.

Insurance Based: All physical therapists in Florida have direct access, but often clinic policies require physician referral. Sometimes any referral is accepted, and other times the referral must be from a practitioner within the same medical practice. These same clinics are often also overwhelmed with wait lists for physical therapy. By the time a patient has received a physician referral and gets scheduled to see a physical therapist, often 4 to 6 weeks have gone by.

  • Cash Based: We want to get started as soon as possible- often within a day or two. Clients can easily book online, or over the phone around their schedule.

Bespoke Physical Therapy is solely committed to providing top quality care, and does not compromise by shortening appointment times to hurry people through the visit. Evaluations (and all visits) are not rushed, and focus on our client’s needs and goals.

Insurance Based: There is currently quite a long wait list at most insurance based clinics in Polk County. Typically, when someone identifies that they have a need for physical therapy services, they need to first see their physician which will often take a few weeks. Once a physical referral is received, initial evaluations are often scheduled a few weeks later.

In order to shorten wait times, often initial evaluation sessions are shortened. Although this may result in a decreased wait to begin PT, it also can mean that the evaluation is less comprehensive with the client being necessarily rushed through. This can result in less specific care through the entire course of physical therapy, because if something is missed the first day, often assistants or techs leading the subsequent treatments, will not have the time or perhaps training to pick up on problems in future visits.

The pressure to decrease wait lists can also result in current patient’s schedules being changed without their approval. High numbers of referrals can add pressure to already at capacity clinics, adds to the number of patients being treated at the same time by the same therapist. It also further decreases a patients chance of being treated by a physical therapist, and increases their chance of working with an assistant or technician.

“I have suffered with positional vertigo for over 40 years. I have been to therapy in the past and the sessions made me sick to my stomach, I would throw up and the sessions were not very effective. After receiving one physical therapy session I was able to lay on my left side with no dizziness what so ever. Cassandra also gave me eye related exercises to help with balance and dizziness. It has been a blessing to be able to feel so much better in such a short period of time.”
